The museum moved to it's current location in 1929, and the brutalist concrete extension was completed in 1972. It features artifacts from the viking, Mesolithic, and Neolithic periods, alongside natural history exhibits, and an art gallery. The museum is a short distance from several hotels, and Belfast City Airport.
